Jetpack is a plugin by wordpress.com that offers a lot of features offered by several other individual plugins in just one. If you have landed on this page I presume you know what jetpack has to offer but, if you are unaware of how wonderful this plugin is, I have talked about What is Jetpack and Why Should you Install it At Once? in one of my posts before.
How to Install Jetpack ?
Now since you know how feature-rich and unique Jetpack is among all the other plugins available, let’s head forward to setting it up.
Log in to your WordPress dashboard and click on “Add New” under the “Plugins” tab.
Jetpack is usually the first entry on the “Add New” page but if it is not, in your case, simply search for the name “Jetpack” in the search box on the extreme right. It will again probably be the first result on the page. Click on “Install Now” to get it installed.
How to Setup and Activate Jetpack?
After hitting the “Install Now” button you will land on the following page:
Click on the “Activate Plugin” link in order to start getting it activated. You will now be redirected to the “Installed Plugins” page. At the top of the page, you will see a message saying “Your Jetpack is almost ready!”. In order to get it completely ready, hit the “Connect to WordPress.com” button that will take you to the following page:
As I had mentioned, Jetpack is a plugin by wordpress.com, it is a necessity to have a wordpress.com account to get it activated.
If you have a wordpress.com account, fill in the WordPress.com username and password in the designated fields and click on Approve.
If you are a new user, click on Need an Account? You will be redirected to a page that asks you to create an account for Jetpack.
Fill in your email address, choose a username and a password for your wordpress.com account and click on “Create My Account” button. The page that opens up tells you that an email has been sent to the address provided while registration and you have to confirm your email address by clicking on the link provided in that email.
Do it and click on “Continue” button. Now your wordpress.com has been created. You will be redirected to your WordPress dashboard under the “Jetpack” tab. On this page, you will be asked to Jump start your site. It is recommended to click on “Jump Start” to automatically start some of the features that jetpack provides. You may “Skip” this process to do it later manually.
This was the last step of this tutorial on how to setup and activate jetpack and after this, you will see a page by jetpack ton how to improve your site with Jetpack. You may toggle on/off any of the features as per your need.
